For those left wondering where Josh Groban ‘fits’ in the highly labelled world of musical arts, don’t bother trying to pigeon hole this guy. Los Angeles-born Josh can claim fans from all age ranges, and is just as comfortable singing pop ballads with The Corrs as he is performing classical masterpieces in Italian or even Spanish or French. The turn of the millennium saw Josh’s star on the rise, his rich baritone voice compelling little old ladies and swooning teens alike. Of course, it doesn’t hurt at all that he has full lips and intense eyes that crinkle when he smiles. What matters most to Josh Groban, however, is that he gets to ply his trade and make a career out of his natural talents. His hit singles “To Where You Are” and “You Raise Me Up” have already become modern day classics to a gazillion iPod devotees who eagerly consume each new song release.

At just 25 years of age, Josh Groban is a veteran of countless television appearances, and is a regular guest on the Oprah Winfrey show. His 40-city North American concert tour broke records by selling out in just twenty minutes and he sang to an audience of more than two billion people at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics’ closing ceremony.

His popularity has spawned numerous fan clubs and his devotees call themselves “Grobanites”, testament to the loyalty his fans feel towards him and his art. With operatic-style influences infiltrating the younger market more and more these days, performers such as Charlotte Church, Il Divo and Andrea Bocelli are Groban’s peers, yet he can simultaneously break and mend hearts with his earnest lyrics and contemporary take on love and life issues.

What appears to matter most to Groban is the opportunity to continue to explore the ranges of his talent and to work alongside music’s most acclaimed and appreciated artists. It seems Josh Groban is a fan as much as a star.

Let’s talk about Dora the Explorer show…

Glancing at a group of children brought me to a level of curiosity. What are they talking about? Kids ranging from ages 3 to 5 years should not be talking that way. They all seem to be serious with their discussion.

There is only a single idea that pops up in my mind; they are supposed to be dealing about Dora. Well, without any glimpse of mistake they are indeed discussing about Dora the Explorer show.

Several versions of the show are available in CDs and DVDs. Not only because the children are getting more interested about the adventures of Dora but also parents believe that the kids will learn a lot from Dora’s show.

A young girl named Dora who resides in a house with her Mama and Papi represents one of the Dora the Explorer shows. She is also fond of visiting her Abuela or grandmother. This is a well-loved version of the kids.

You can find great benefits from watching Dora the Explorer show. It will teach your child with the basic Spanish vocabulary and phrases. In addition, it will also help them to enhance their mathematical, composition skills and physical coordination.

Dora adds up to the confidence of the children. Through her exploration, she is teaching the children to become more observant and meticulous on the things around her. The attitude of generosity will also assist the children to know its importance by the practices done by Dora every time she helps a friend.

How does Dora teach your kids with said skills in her show? Simple. For every episode of the show, Dora makes it sure, that she will solve a particular problem concerning one of those aspects like Spanish or mathematics. This will then teach your preschoolers with the basic of math and Spanish dialect.

Typically, at the end of the show you will hear Dora and Boots singing a Spanish line that is translated into English vocabulary meaning, “We did it.” This is a way of showing to the people that they are able to fulfill their goal of entertaining people and solving problem in the end.

Another common Spanish term that can be heard in the show is “vamonos”. This is uttered by Dora at the finale of the show as well. This means let’s go. With a great pride, she will leave the viewers with a big smile on her face because she is certain that she was able to make the people happy for another episode.

Together, by spending couple of minutes in watching Dora the Explorer’s show you and your child will enjoy the privilege of learning few Spanish dialects. Not only that, Dora is also popular for being bilingual and sometimes she can even speak up to 3 or 4 dialects. It is a major reason for the parents for choosing Dora as the center of their child’s favorite cartoon character.

This is perhaps the result of her visit to the different areas every time she has her adventure. Those are some of the unrevealed secrets of Dora the Explore adventure. If you want to be a member of Dora’s fans then better watch her show for you to get familiar about her journeys. You kids will not only enjoy the show but will learn a lot from it.

When you first hear of ice cream candles you really expect to see real tasty ice cream decorated with candles, like a birthday cake. Well, this is only partly true: ice cream candles look delicious, yet you won’t know what they taste like since they are actually made of wax. Highly appreciated particularly in cafeterias, sweets shops and at home, these kind of candles are the touch of color you may be missing. One thing is for sure, they are very likely to open the appetite for sweets. The creation of such funny candles brought not only bright spirits to our homes, but made room for a whole industry to develop.

Color and popularity

Given the huge popularity of ice cream as dessert, we can only imagine the huge success of ice cream candles. The most popular forms used are chocolate ice cream candles, banana split candles, waffle cups or sundaes. They all look so very real that unless you saw the wick or knew that you’re watching a candle you’d definitely feel like tucking in. Very often, the windows of sweet shops are decorated with such nice candles given the fact that the actual ice cream would eventually melt. They are of a huge impact at home too, as they add the drop of fun your home may need.

Usually, a regular ice cream candle is made of soy wax and gel wax to simulate the “sauce”. Every single part of an ice cream candle is very scented to suggest the real flavor of ice cream. Imagine how your mouth may water only at the sight of it, not to mention the aroma! One thing is for sure, these candles are sheer delight, and they are not too expensive either. One costs between $8 or $13, depending on the type you purchase. Moreover, the glass that remains after the candles burn down can be reused, in any way you want.

Gift shopping

Very often ice cream candles can be chosen as gifts for friends or family you want to make smile. No wonder they are the joy of kids, but if you’re giving them as a gift, you’d better have some real ice cream with you too, since at a certain level it is quiet difficult to make the difference between the real ice cream and the ice cream candle. Go on, have fun!

Knife sharpening was recognized as an important part of tool maintenance since the very first primitive tool was made. In the Colonial times, a grist mill was often the first building to be set up and running when a new settlement was being formed. That is because these pioneers recognized that without sharp tools, the rest of the building would be slowed dramatically.

Today’s knife sharpening tools are based on the same basis physics as the old grist mills and whet stones, but with a whole lot more power behind them. Grinding wheels that were once powered by water wheels are now zapped with electricity to do the job in a fraction of the time.

What to Look for in a Knife Sharpener

A knife sharper that will serve you well for many years can take on several forms. The bench top grinder for example is good for sharpening gardening tools and axe blades alike.

Chain saws are tools that need to be sharpened often to ensure a good cut, which in turn means better safety in cutting. An abrasive end to a long drill-bit type attachment is inserted in the drill and tightened down. The power drill quickly rotates the end as the saw blade is held against it. When choosing a chain saw sharpener, look for one that comes with multiple tips, since they will wear quickly.

Tormek makes a knife and scissor sharpener that is a bench top grinder with water to reduce friction. The grinder also comes as a complete package with a leather strop, although some users recommend using a paper wheel to hone and strop the edges of the knife.

The most important item to look for in a knife sharpener is versatility. Can it sharpen longer knife blades? Can it strop the edges adequately? Are the replacement parts easy to obtain? These are all considerations to make carefully especially in light of the fact that knife sharpeners suitable for heavy duty tool maintenance can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

Knife Sharpeners for Everyday Uses

Of course the heavy duty grinding wheels and chain saw sharpeners are probably for the serious woodworkers and landscapers. For everyone else there is a wide array of options that are much less expensive and even more portable.

The handheld knife sharpener like that you would find in a butcher shop is a basic, non-electric tool. Other variations on this are the wheeled knife sharpeners where the blade is drawn between two hard wheels. Abrasive materials against which a knife is drawn at about a 30 degree angle is how each works, whether electric or manual.

You can still get good quality sharpening by hand or through electronic means. The skill of the knife owner at angling and stopping the blade is still at the heart of how sharp you can get your tools. There are educational course offered on knife care and sharpening, that you may want to consider if being the sharpest tool in the shed is important to you.

There was this story on Afghanistan that hit the newswires a few weeks ago. Unlike most stories about Afghanistan that comment on the ouster of the Taliban and the end of the totalitarian regime in that country, this news story appeared to be on the other hand of the spectrum as far as seriousness and relevance are concerned, at least on the surface. The story told about this documentary that was focused on setting up a beauty school in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.

According to the story, the documentary tells the story of six American women who travel to Afghanistan to train the locals to be hairdressers. It is entitled “The Beauty Academy of Kabul” and is directed by Liz Mermin. The documentary narrates how some major manufacturers of beauty products bank-rolled six volunteer American hairstylists to set up a beauty school in Kabul.

The documentary follows the six women as they prepare for their trip, how they were concerned about the uncertainty of their mission and their fears about going to a faraway land where war and controversy are in full swing. Upon reaching Kabul and beginning their mission, the woman are pleasantly surprised by the enthusiastic welcome accord to them by the local women who practically swarm the beauty school with high hopes of learning a trade that is actually acceptable for women in their culture.

For three months, the six Americans teach the locals all about the latest techniques in cutting, coloring and styling. Many of the local women are delighted about what they learn. Many of them are filled with pride as they explain how they will be able to help their husbands so much if they were able to successfully launch their own beauty parlors. Some of the women visibly reveled at the prospect of earning more money than their husbands. For most of them, attending the beauty school was a welcome respite from the everyday concerns of their lives, particularly how to overcome starvation and ward off disease.

In the final analysis, the documentary tells us two important things. First, despite a view of some grotesquely mangled buildings and other signs of conflict, the war in Afghanistan is not as bad as we think. And second, it tells us that Afghan women (and probably the men) are just like us, blessed with a healthy concern for beauty and excited about the chance to look good for their husbands.

Kristen Chenoweth tickets are a chance to see an artist who has excelled in every effort she’s made in show business. Chenowith has built a loyal legion of fans from many walks of life, and she’s hitting the stage once again. Below is a look at how this interesting and diminutive star rose to lofty heights, and there’s no reason to think that her star won’t continue to rise.

Early Life

Kristi Dawn Chenoweth was born on July 24, 1968 in the little town of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Chenoweth was adopted at birth, and enjoyed what can be viewed as a “normal” childhood with a supportive home and a nurturing family environment. She was always the one in her class to perform, and was in love with the idea of being on stage since she was a small child.

This desire took her to Oklahoma City University, where she began to blossom both as a performer and a person. She was voted “Miss OCU” and ultimately won first runner-up prize in the Miss Oklahoma pageant. However, Chenoweth offered then and continues to offer much more than beauty now.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in musical theater and a master’s degree in opera performance. Soon after graduation, Chenoweth turned down opportunities to advance her studies even further and made her way to the theater. It was here that Chenoweth’s star began to rise.

Career

Chenoweth’s career took off almost immediately after a few off-Broadway performances, but she landed her first Broadway role in Scapin in 1997, and she won a Theatre World Award for her performance. This was only the first of many awards and recognitions Chenoweth would enjoy, and she hit stage superstardom in 1998 with her performance in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Chenoweth won a Tony Award the following year for Best Featured Actress to go along with her Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards.

She continued to star in several productions, including her 2003 role in Wicked, one of the most successful theater ventures of all time, and a show that continues to draw a big crowd to this day. However, Chenoweth has also succeeded in several other genres, including television and music.

In regards to her music, Chenoweth has released 10 albums of different persuasions. Much of her work in the music world reflects her time on stage, as many of her songs are classics from the 1930’s and 1940’s, and she has also released other recordings of her Broadway songs. Chenoweth knows how to perform in concerts, as her stage experience lends itself nicely to a concert setting. Kristen Chenoweth tickets are always in demand because fans understand that they’re going to see a first-class show.

Overall, it’s hard to believe that this 4’ 11” lady could stand so tall in the entertainment industry, but she’s only going to continue to grow in popularity, as she has already excelled in every setting in which she has worked. If you want to see a true superstar do what she does best, get your hands on Kristen Chenoweth tickets today.

Born February 27, 1981, Josh Groban was an acting student at Carnegie Mellon University when he was offered a recording contract by Warner Brothers Records. His high school years were a combination of general studies mixed with arts training. Mentored by Grammy-winning, producer and director, David Foster, Groban tasted the music business with turns at the 1999 Grammy’s and the 1999 Governor of California Inauguration.

Groban’s first album, produced by Foster, was largely classically influenced. He worked with Sarah Brightman in 2000 on her La Luna Tour and was featured on her La Luna Concert DVD. Groban made some of his first national showings by appearing in many benefit performances. He appeared with such greats as Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Don Henley and Robin Williams in the Andre Agassi Grand Slam Event For Children, and in honoring Michael J. Fox at the Muhammad Ali Fight Night Foundation event. He also appeared in the 2001 Family Celebration hosted by President Bill and Hillary Clinton and producer/director David E. Kelley and actress Michelle Pfeiffer.

Groban’s 2001 work with David E. Kelley led to a performance on the season finale of Ally McBeal and a role in the 2001/2002 Ally McBeal season. His 2001 self-titled debut album went double platinum within a year of its release. Since his debut, Groban has been busy in the music industry. He performed with Charlotte Church at the 2002 Winter Olympics, with Sissel Kyrkjebo at the Oslo, Norway Nobel Peace Price Concert, and in 2003 at the Vatican for a Christmas performance with music masters Lionel Ritchie and Sting. He has also performed with Celine Dion, Nick Carter, Yolanda Adams, Enrique Iglesias, and Barbara Streisand. Groban released his second album in 2003 entitled Closer and his third, Awake, in 2006. Groban continues to have a strong presence on the Billboard charts and appeals to a wide market.
